Trivia (10)
His colleague Youssef Chahine discovered him.
He said that the main reason he left Egypt during President Gamal Abdel-Nasser's rule was the issue of the "exit visa" that was imposed on all travelers, since he had work commitments and contracts abroad. Also because artists had to obtain a certificate of good conduct every time before traveling.
When he was eleven years old, his mother noticed that he had gained a lot of weight, so she decided to send him to a boarding school in England for his education; during that year he lost a lot of weight, learned English, and because of this he was able to get his role in the film Lawrence of Arabia.
He worked in English theater.
In addition to his work in Egyptian cinema, he worked in Italian, American and French cinema.
He also worked on a few radio serials for Egyptian Radio.
He mastered more than one language besides Arabic, including English.
He appeared in commercials.
He returned to Egypt in the mid-1990s.
