Trivia (4)
In the ad, it read: "From behind the scenes of the struggle between religion and power" - "A film with no red lines.".
A few days after the film's release, a member of parliament for the Kafr El-Sheikh Center constituency and a member of the House Religious Committee demanded that the film be banned, claiming it distorted the image of imams.
The film made EGP 800,000 in its first two days, which is considered a very good gross, especially given the nature of the film, which falls outside mainstream audience fare, and because it was also released outside the usual film seasons.
In mid-February 2017, the film was banned in Lebanon at the request of the Lebanese Dar al-Fatwa, at the same time that Fifty Shades Darker was allowed to screen.
