Artist Ahmad Mekky's voice appears in the scene where Yehia works as an extra in a film; Ahmad Mekky plays the director by voice only, although he is actually the film's director.
The film mocks the funny translation of some foreign film titles in Egypt's video market, especially during the 1980s and 1990s, aimed at exciting and attracting viewers. It cites the foreign film title "The Challenging Day" being translated as "The Dancer and the Dragon", while also mocking the poor cultural level of Egyptian and Arab media figures, as the announcer misstates the title as "Challenge Day".
The film also, as in other works by artist Ahmad Mekky, mocks the weak and superficial level of Egyptian and Arab television programs by presenting a poor model of the talk shows widespread at the time (especially those with hired audiences).
The film also mocks, in some scenes, the vast difference between Arab and foreign television viewers: the Arab viewer listens with intense focus to a presenter slowly and tediously reading the news, while the foreign viewer listens to similar news presented very briefly and based on facts and figures rather than narrative description.
The film is the first production by New Century.

When Ali pretends he is talking to a girl on the phone while standing in front of a soccer goal at school, in the front shot one of his hands is raised and holding the top of the goal, but in the shot from behind both his hands are down.
When Yehia El-Masry is sitting with The Girl as she wonders to herself about the heat and he is holding a newspaper over his face, in the closer shot they are right next to each other with no distance between them, but in the next wider shot a gap of perhaps 30 cm appears between them.
