His father was a poet from the well-known "Madi" family in the Levant.
Her artistic beginnings came when director Muhammad Karim assigned her her first role as the sister of Muhammad Abdel-Wahab in the film Ya7Ya Al-Hob.
Her family objected to her entering the arts, but she paid no attention and continued.
She joined the troupe of Khalil Mutran in 1935.
