She changed her name in 1932 from Pauline to Najma after converting to Islam.
She left her primary studies, encouraged by her sister Serena Ibrahim, to work in the arts.
Her first appearance was on the "Al-Reihany" theater stage, and she joined it on its trip to Alexandria.
