Of Palestinian origin.
He emigrated with his family for twenty years, then came with his brother Ibrahim Lama to Egypt, arriving in Alexandria with his brother Ibrahim Lama in 1916, after their family had emigrated to Chile in South America; they were on their way to Palestine, but decided to stay in Alexandria and work on producing Egyptian films.
He formed an artistic duo with his brother, in acting, writing, directing, and so on.
He founded the Condor Film film production company with his brother in 1926.
During that period, the Lama brothers began producing their film Qobla Fel-Sa7Ara2 –the first Arab feature film- on May 4, 1927.
In 1930, the Lama brothers moved to Cairo after their film projects expanded.
Most of the films directed by Ibrahim Lama starred his brother Badr Lama, even after Badr Lama married Badreya Raafat, who shared the lead roles in these films with him. The films directed by Ibrahim Lama in which Badr Lama did not appear were: Wakhz Al-Dameer 1931- The Victims-1931 1931- Layaly Al-Qahera 1939.
After Badr Lama died suddenly, Ibrahim Lama brought in his son Samir Ibrahim Lama to star in his films.
