"Buying a Man" is one of the scripts from the first round of the "Birthmark Scenario" workshop, which is based on collective work to develop Arabic-language feature films, starting from the treatment stage until they become complete scripts suitable for production or sale. Over six months, 6 to 8 treatments are developed according to a schedule of weekly writers' sessions and regular meetings with industry professionals, under the supervision of professional writers and creative producers.
The artist Nelly Karim said the film's first title was "Male Duck" before it was changed.
