His father was a religious chanter at Al-Khazendar Mosque.
His father kept him with him for a while, but he left because of his love of art.
His passion for singing kept him from his studies.
He memorized poetry from a young age, was influenced by the artist Muhammad Abdel-Wahab, and studied under him along with Mustafa Reda.
He became known for the radio operetta "El-Dandarma".
In the late 1960s, he was injured in an accident in Alexandria that led him to retire.
In his final days, he suffered from memory loss.
