He grew up in Helmiya El-Gedida, Cairo, Egypt.
He joined Ramsis Theater.
Director Amina Mohamed discovered him and gave him his first job.
He founded the company "Modern Egypt Films" in 1942.
He retired from cinema at the beginning of the 1960s, after becoming a member of the National Assembly.
His children admitted that they burned some original copies of his films after his death, in accordance with their father's will!
